Upstone Materials Inc. – Malone, NY

On Wednesday, August 20th, Upstone Materials celebrated its annual open house at the Malone Ready-Mix Concrete plant, inviting members of the community to explore the site and discover the inner workings of the company.

Visitors enjoyed an informative tour, met the friendly team behind the operations, and were treated to a delicious lunch provided by Italian Affair, a pizza food truck from Massena. The events featured demonstrations of testing and pouring techniques, led by key team members Kaley, the QA/QC Super; Damon, the RM Manager; and Jerry, one of the drivers.

Kaley was able to demonstrate what the testing process looks like. She used a bit of the concrete to show guests how Upstone does a few of their lab tests like the “Air” test, which measures the amount of air content in the concrete mix, and the “Slump” test that assess the workability and consistency of the concrete mix.

During the pour demonstration, two blocks were filled (1 yard each) with fresh concrete. Guests were able to write in them afterwards. This hands-on (literally) demonstration allowed attendees to witness the intricate pouring process in real-time, showcasing the process that goes into creating high-quality concrete products.

The engaging presentations highlighted the precision and care that go into every aspect of Upstone’s concrete production.

The open house was not only a fantastic opportunity for community members to learn and connect but also showcased Upstone Materials’ dedication to excellence and transparency in their operations.
